The Hearing Support Centre is staffed by the Co-ordinator Geraldine Packer (Qualified Teacher of the Deaf), Mary McArdle (Qualified Teacher of the Deaf) and a team of Teaching Assistants.
We have high expectations for all our deaf students who receive the support they need to gain equal access to the curriculum. They benefit from having dedicated staff on site who provide appropriate, targeted support and specialist teaching as well as the delivery of ongoing deaf awareness training to the College’s staff and students.
We consider pastoral support for our deaf students to be of paramount importance and therefore continually monitor and promote their social and emotional development in addition to their academic progress. Our aim is for our students to develop into confident, independent individuals who are comfortable mixing with both their deaf and hearing peers. |
