About us

Eggbuckland Community College was opened in September 1979 in purpose built accommodation on a green-field site. Therefore we have the advantage of excellent specialist facilities for all subjects.   The College is coeducational with a comprehensive intake of about 242 students into Year 7 each year. Together with a large Sixth Form, this makes the total number of students aged 11 to 18 about 1440. The College is maintained by Plymouth Local Authority.

We will use the art and science of Technology to engage, empower, and enrich our wider community of students and their families. Collaborating with all partners, we will define and respond to developing community needs.
 
Exploiting technological opportunities and through our own inherent desire for achievement, we will invest in an active learning culture and a clear set of progression routes towards achievement. Defining, promoting and sharing excellence in Technology, Science, ICT, and Mathematics, together we will grow the leaders of the future.

High Expectations

The College‘s good reputation in the local community has been regularly confirmed by Inspectors who have made comments like "Eggbuckland is an excellent learning environment" and "it is a good place to be a student". We expect the best from our students demanding high standards of work, dress and behavior.

Clear Aims and Values

We have a clear sense of direction which is summarised in a statement of our basic aims and values. The statement is focused on three action words: Learning, Caring and Achieving.
 
Designated as a Specialist Technology College in September 1996, and redesignated in 1999, 2002 and 2007, Eggbuckland aims to make learning exciting and effective through the use of the most modern technology across the curriculum and especially in Science, Maths, Technology and Information and Communication Technology.
 
Our students and staff—including those in our partner primary schools and our community learning division - are able to employ state-of-the-art hardware and software in order to reach the highest level of achievement in as many fields of activity as possible.
