Eggbuckland Community College opened in 1979 in a residential area on the outskirts of north-east Plymouth. Eggbuckland became a Specialist Technology College in 1996 and is now in it's 4th phase. We enjoy a national reputation for our innovative practice in both ICT and Student Leadership, and this was highlighted in our recent very successful OFSTED inspection.
ICT is extremely well-embedded in our practices: all staff have laptops, some classes are taught as ‘laptop groups’ and interactive whiteboards and multi-media projectors are widely used. BECTA has described our students as the most e-confident learners in the country, one of our colleagues won the ICT Teacher of the Year Award in 2003, we recently won the SSAT Award for the most innovative use of ICT in communications between the College and the wider community and achieved the BECTA ICT Mark in 2007.
